On August 19, 2021, we were notified of another recognition for last year’s verdict in Estate of Holland v. Cypress Insurance Company. The $21,029,363.00 judgment was #25 on the Top 50 Verdicts list for 2020. We are pleased by this recognition, as this list compiles results across ALL areas of practice.
This judgment is notable for several reasons. It is the only Top 50 Verdict from Georgia. It is the 2nd largest personal injury verdict in the Southeastern United States. Estate of Holland v. Cypress Insurance Company
In December 2016, Mr. Kip Holland was the victim of a tragic incident when a tractor-trailer driver lost control of his rig and struck Mr. Holland as he was walking along the road. When the driver’s insurance company refused to settle for the $1 million policy maximum, the family chose to pursue litigation.
The case was filed in early 2017, went to trial in February 2020, and the verdict was rendered on February 6, 2020. The jury found in favor of the Holland family and awarded our clients over $21 million dollars in damages.
